Wet Weather Plans for your Perth Wedding Ceremony
Question from the Celebrant “What is your wet weather plan?”
Answer: (Silence……the sound of crickets in the background can be heard)
Having a wet weather plan for just in case it rains on your wedding day is vitally important.
Even if your wedding is planned for the middle of summer, it is always best to have a “Plan B”.
Granted it is less likely to rain in the summer months here in Perth but you never can be too careful…
As an experienced Perth celebrant with over 1500 weddings under my belt I have seen many a wedding ceremony washed out due to the tears of mother nature.
There are some great venues in Perth that have a great option of undercover just in case it rains so I have highlighted a few below:
Caversham House:
Recently the folks at Caversham House built their Garden house that you can use as a Wedding Chapel.
It looks stunning just on its own but is a great back up if you have booked the Hidden Gardens and mother nature decides to give you a serve of her refreshing nectar.
Caversham House can be contacted on (08) 9279 1167
Queens Gardens:
Right in the middle of Perth, the Queens Gardens is a beautifully manicured garden looked after by the City of Perth.
However it has a large Gazebo right in the middle that can hold quite a few people so if it rains, you can all adjourn to the gazebo.
Give the City of Perth a call on to make a booking.
Kings Park:
Overlooking the scenic Swan River, Kings Park and Botanic Gardens was established over 100 years ago so it is a garden that is truly spectacular.
There are many special places within the gardens that are undercover that are perfect if you looking for a choice that will protect you from the elements.
These include the Old Tea Pavilion, Marlee pavilion and the Wildflower Pavilion.
The Kings Park authority can be contacted on (08) 9480 3624.
Woodloes Homestead:
Just off Albany Highway in Cannington this is a decommissioned church that is wonderfully cared for by local volunteers.
You have a choice of having the ceremony in the beautiful grounds or joining your guests in the chapel for the ceremony.
Vale’s Central Park:
Situated in the new suburb of Aveley, this beautiful park has a stone structure that will hold many guests in case of rain.
Vale Central park can be booked through the City of Swan on (08) 9267 9267
Minawarra Chapel:
The Chapel at Minnawarra is in indoor venue right in the middle of Armadale on Orchard Road.
If it is raining or really hot, The Chapel is a perfect place to have your Wedding (as long as you don’t mind a cross smack in the middle of the ceremony!)
The Chapel was built in 1903 and moved in 1988 to Armdale and rebuilt to its current form.
It has seating for upto 60 guests and a great park just behind the Chapel for your wedding photos.
You can book The Chapel through the Armadale Council on 9399 0111.
Brookleigh Estate Equestrian Centre:
I love coming to this venue as you can have wonderful ceremonies by the house or the lake.
But when it rains they will open up the stables for you and it looks so majestic in here… Brookleigh can be contacted on (08) 9296 6966 for more information.
Perth Town Hall:
This a a great formal venue that can hold hundreds of guests if you are looking to have a big winter wedding.
Booking the town hall is easy through the City of Perth on (08) 9461 3555.
Houghton Winery:
This venue is located in the Swan Valley and has beautiful lawns and gardens were you can hold your wedding ceremony.
However their back up plan in case it rains is truly remarkable.
Nestled under the winery tasting rooms is The Cellar!
The Cellar is a big area with massive wine vats as the backdrop to your wedding ceremony: truly spectacular.
Houghton Winery can be contacted on their website.
There are many venues to choose from in Perth but it is always a good idea to have a back up plan in case of rain.
All the best with the wedding plans.
