Boardwalk Winter Wedding overlooking Jindalee Beach in Perth

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being the celebrant for Lina and Wilson and have just received this wonderful thank you note I wanted to share, along with some highlights from their wedding:

“Hi Brad,

It was a cold and windy winters day in Perth at the Boardwalk overlooking  the ocean at Jindalee beach at the end of Jindalee Boulevard. But today was a wonderful day, one in which Lina and Wilson welcomed their close friends, some who had traveled from afar to be a part of their special day.

Lina, Wilson and their friends decided to DIY their wedding and it looked spectacular.  As Lina arrived, being escorted by her dear friend, a Violinist serenaded us as we watched Lina as she glowed, walking down the steps.

Marriage to Lina and Wilson is a commitment between 2 people who what to grow together together, to declare loyalty and share happiness, and to encourage.

They both met in Colombia, back in 2007 when they worked together: but they did not have much contact with one another.

Forward to 2012 and Wilson moved to Australia to live. A few years later Lina took some time off work and considered coming to come to Australia and her friend  recommended that she contact Wilson who was living in Perth.  Arriving in 2014 Lina moved, they became flatmates and it wasn’t long before they had become close friends.

Over time the seeds of their love where planted. They began to spend more and more time together and soon they had well and truly walked into love with each other.

Lina believes Wilson is her closest friend who she can trust 100% and feels peace commitment and unconditional support that he offers. She loves that he is loyal and kind yet organised and responsible. Most importantly she loves that he is a great cook.

Wilson loves that Lina is sincere and goal oriented, reliable, brave and affectionate. He loves that they are honest with each other and Lina motivates him to be the best he can be. Most importantly Wilson believes Lina is beautiful.

The proposal was on Lina’s birthday, Wilson had an amazingly surprise filled day and it was in a wonderful dinner on the beach where Wilson asked Lina to make him the happiest man in the world by being his wife.

Waiting for the bride

During the ceremony, both Lina and Wilson wrote some special vows to each other that where meaningful but really funny and had us all in stitches of laughter.

I promise to make you smile whenever you’re sad,

Carry you around when your legs are bad.

I promise to share half my blanket when you are cold,

Till we’re both old.

After the ceremony the newly married couple and their friends resided to a local gazebo in Jindalee for some congratulations, photos, refreshments, speeches and a first dance.
