Dads care for youngsters by Perth Wedding Celebrant
The West Australian Newspaper wrote a story on stay at home dads which I was interviewed for. Here is a transcript of some of the article that Connie Clark wrote that was published on Wednesday 13th of July.
Brad Whitelock, 40 Father of one:
After 15 years in the marketing game, Mr Whitelock, from Girrawheen, (Perth, WA) was looking for a life change. His wife Hayley enjoyed her job as a high school teacher, and the couple made the decision their son Kari would be cared for by him.
“When you become a parent, the career you had doesn’t mean as much anymore,” Mr Whitelock said. “It’s not about you, it’s about your child. I wanted a change from my career, and it felt natural that I stayed home. I get to see Kari grow up; he is very close to me and loves having me at home. We love to go to story time at the local library and we spend time in the garden and go to the park often.”
With his son now in kindergarten, Mr Whitelock is building his business as a Marriage Celebrant from home, being careful not to over-extend his workload so he could still give Kari his full attention on the days he was home. He said his son enjoyed the best of both worlds and was growing up in a happy household.
Hope you enjoyed the article.
